Connecting Olim in Ramat Gan.
RamatGanim is a social initiative that connects Olim with one another, to their new home in Ramat Gan and Israel. Together with local Israelis and previously-arrived Olim we coordinate activities and programs to support Olim Hadashim, and build community in Ramat Gan.
Together, we explore the city, visit local sites, organize volunteering time to time, and share Shabbat dinners. We support each other in our Aliyah journeys, give each other recommendations, celebrate holidays, and practice our Hebrew together. RamatGanim organizes a variety of meetups and programs to offer Olim in the area a space to get to know each other, and find opportunities to develop their lives in Israel. Our community brings together young professionals between the ages of 20-40: Olim Hadashim, previously-arrived Olim, and native born Israelis.

Welcome to Ramat Gan!
Ramat Gan is a large municipality home to more than 160,000 residents across the highway from Tel Aviv. Its lively business center and quiet neighborhoods welcome hundreds of new Olim who choose it to call home every year. The city’s uniqueness and beauty is found in its parks and green areas surrounding quiet, pastoral neighborhoods, nestled alongside a bustling and colorful metropolitan hub - Bursa (Israel Diamond Center) and surrounding entertainment complexes.
Ramat Gan is the greenest city in Israel, with 25% of its area being parkland. The city continues to meticulously maintain and improve its parks for the benefit of residents and visitors so they can enjoy well-developed green spaces in the heart of Israel. In the north of the city is the Yarkon River and Yarkon Park, and to the south lies the open greenery of the Ramat Gan National Park and the Safari. The Ramat Gan National Park, which is one of the most unique and beautiful parks in Israel, attracts millions of people annually.
The city hosts the largest diamond center in the world, and one of the biggest business complexes in Israel – the Bursa (Israel Diamond Exchange) complex - where 50,000 people work every day. In Ramat Gan, you will also find five institutions of higher learning, including the prestigious Bar-Ilan University, Shenkar School of Engineering, Design and Art, and Beit Zvi School of the Performing Arts. Ramat Gan also hosts the largest hospital in Israel, Sheba – Tel Hashomer, 11 museums, and three theaters.
Events
Hebrew Reading Practice
A series of bi-weekly meetups helping Olim improve their Hebrew reading ability, using popular song lyrics, Israeli websites, and newspapers. This meetups is led by mentors who are fluent Hebrew speakers, and suitable for Olim who are intermediate Hebrew speakers, such as ulpan bet or gimel level.
Speaking Club & Language Exchange
A monthly event that meets to practice speaking Hebrew and other languages together. This club is led by mentors who speak fluent Hebrew, and events are suitable for Olim in all levels of Hebrew learning.
Can you mentor in Hebrew or your native language? We’d be happy to have more volunteers to guide conversations and language learning. During club meetings, mentors spend half the session as facilitators in their native language and the other half practicing a language of their choice.
Hebrew Classes
The Ramat Gan Municipality Olim Department is holding Hybrid Hebrew Classes for Olim, at 6 levels of learning: Beginners 1, Beginners 2, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Advanced 1, and Advanced 2. Classes meet twice a week for 4 months, totaling 60 hours of learning. Most classes take place online, with a few meetings in person.

Communal Shabbat Dinner
Offering our community a time to relax and reconnect, RamatGanim hosts bimonthly Communal Shabbat Dinners. A catered kosher meal (Meat/Fish/Vegetarian) or shared meal (flexible) is served.
First Steps in Israel: Support For New Olim in Ramat Gan
Assistance provided to Olim in the initial stages of their arrival in In Israel and Ramat Gan, with introduction to municipality services and assistance in redeeming benefits which new Olim are entitled.
Employment
There are many recruitment and job placement services in Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv, and the surrounding area. It’s important to know job recruiter services are free to use for job seekers, as employers pay recruitment fees in Israel. You can use these services to find positions suited for English-speakers and fit to your preferences. Some recruiters even partner with the government to offer special services to new Olim, like resume building and interview preparation.
Ramat Gan Olim department organizes during the year, employment workshops designed for new olim in the English language.
